Revised All-State Auditon Procedures for Festival Choirs:

(2012) 

All 2012-2013 NMACDA audition recordings, repertoire lists and necessary forms are available at NMACDA.org. Any person submitting auditions for students must be a current member in good standing of NMACDA.  This membership number is required on the teacher and student all-state registration form, which will be void without it.  You need to apply for membership through our national organization website listed below:

 You may find your membership number on either your membership card or on the mailing label of “The Choral Journal” magazine.

If selected for the choir, $35.00 registration fee will be due for each student participant. All moneys are payable to NMACDA and will be sent to your Treasurer after the Youth and Children's Choir lists have been released, shortly after our Oct. 1 audition mailing deadline.

Step 1:

Complete the Teacher and Student All-State Online Registration Form before the last Monday of September (Sept. 28, 2012).  Remember:  you must already have your membership number to complete this form. This form can be found on the homepage of the NMACDA website on the left hand side of the screen, click tab and follow instructions. 

Be sure to print a hard copy of your confirmation email after you register—you will need to  include the hard copy in step 3 (below).

Step 2: 

Record your auditions for each student using the instructions listed below. PLEASE listen to every CD you record to make sure it was finalized correctly. Complete your packet and mail to the appropriate audition chair by Monday, October 1, 2012. 

Information that must be included on each Student Audition CD

PLEASE USE (2 Tracks)

(A) Track 1

Have student say full name (first and last) and voice part. Do NOT state the name of the school. Then sing "My Country 'Tis of Thee" sung unaccompanied using an appropriate starting pitch played on the piano for the student.  

(B) Track 2

Have student sing the choral audition piece using the information provided below:

TEACHERS MUST NOT BE HEARD SINGING ALONG WITH A STUDENT, OR SPEAKING AT ANY TIME DURING A STUDENT'S ALL-STATE AUDITION RECORDING. THIS WILL RESULT IN THE CD BEING DISQUALIFIED BY AUDITION CHAIRS. 

Step 3: 

Complete your package and mail to the following audition chairs addresses.

All audition materials must be postmarked by Oct. 1, 2013.

No late entries will be considered.

The following MUST be included in your audition package:

• Audition CDs, labeled with student name, voice part, and audition choir DIRECTLY PRINTED ON EACH CD. (For Youth Choir, must include divisi—SI or II, BI or II, etc.)

• Include the e-mail hard copy of the Online Teacher Registration form listing all student and director information for all-state audition materials. Please highlight the student name of each CD you are including in your packet and cross off the names of students you are not sending in for consideration but were listed on the initial teacher registration form. 

•  Include a Classroom recommendation and music teacher recommendation form for each student. (links at bottom of page). Please place all forms together and paperclip. There is no need to secure the forms around the CD as it takes to long for audition teams to unpack and organize. 

8. After the list of the 2013 Youth and Elementary Choir participants is released, you will need to re-register your students that were selected for the choirs again using the Online Teacher/Student All-State Registration Form (found on the nmacda website). This time you will need to enter addresses for each student participant. After completing the form, please send payment for each student who was selected for the all-state choirs immediately to our treasurer. The list usually is posted on the website the first week of November 2012).
