NMACDA Youth All-State Festival

• Payment for All-State Choir participants is due to our Treasure Alan Kuncel by December 1, 2011. $35.00 for each student sent in a check or P.O. to NMACDA.

All-State Auditon Procedures for All-State Youth Choir Festival

(revised July 8, 2011)


1. All 2011-2012 NMACDA audition recordings, repertoire lists and necessary forms are    

   available at NMACDA.org.

2. Any person submitting auditions for students must be a current member in good standing of

   NMACDA.  This membership number is required on the teacher and student all-state registration form, which will be void without it.  The website to apply for membership in NMACDA is:

      You may find your membership number on either your membership card or on the           

            mailing label of “The Choral Journal” magazine.

3. Complete the Teacher and Student All-State Online Registration Form before the last Monday of September (Sept. 26, 2011).  Remember:  you must already have your membership number to complete this form. This form can be found on the NMACDA website on the left hand side of the screen. 

   Be sure to print a hard copy of your confirmation email after you register—you will need to

   include the hard copy in step 6 (below).

4. All audition materials must be postmarked on or before the first Monday of October (Oct.  

   3, 2011), and mailed to:

      NO late audition entries will be accepted or considered.

5. Information recorded on audition CDs must include:                 

       (a) full name (first and last) and voice part.  Do NOT state the name of the          

        school.

       (b) “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” sung unaccompanied using a starting pitch appropriate     

        for the student.

       (c) The choral audition piece using the appropriate cut:

Elementary: Entire Piece, "Simple Gifts" using the piano accompaniment only. Directors may not speak, clap, or sing on the CD. 

Youth: The audition track for "Credo" will begin at the pick-up to measure 54 (Rehearsal #5) and the audition cut is Measure 56 to the End. Music Minus one accompaniment. Directors may not speak, clap or sing on the CD.

Sop I must be sung in order to audition for the Soprano part. Do not sing Sop II on the audition recording but rather mark on the student's audition form that you would like that student to be considered for Sop II.

6.    The following will be included in your audition package:

    (a) Audition CDs, labeled with student name and voice part DIRECTLY ON EACH CD. (For Youth       Choir, must include divisi—SI or II, BI or II, etc.)

    (b) Hard copy of the NEW online registration form listing all student and director information.

    (c) Classroom and music teacher recommendation form for each student.

7. To ensure delivery of your CDs, it is RECOMMENDED that you send all audition materials via  registered mail with return receipt.  NMACDA will not be responsible for lost, damaged or incomplete audition materials.  Audition CDs will NOT be returned under ANY circumstances.

8. After the list of the 2012 Youth and Elementary Choir participates is released, you will need to re-register your students names and addresses that were selected for the choirs again with the Teacher and Student All-State Registration Form. Please send payment for your students who were selected immediately after the list is posted.
